In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 of the Jammu and Kashmir Animal Disease (Control) Act 2006 (1947 AD), the Government hereby directs that the prohibition imposed on import of poultry/poultry products and pig/piggery products vide SRO no. 61 dated 20th February is hereby lifted in respect of "day old chicks" and "healthy broilers" only.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Essential Service (maintenance) ordinance, Samvat 2001, the Government hereby directs that all the employees of (Veterinary/Para-veterinary Services) the Animal/Sheep Husbandry Department to whom the said ordinance applies shall not abandon their employment or absent themselves from the duty/work  or depart from the area/areas where they are posted, failing which they shall be guilty of having committed the offences under section 5 of the ordinance for which they shall be prosecuted before the court upon a complaint by the concerned District Chief Animal Husbandry Officer and shall be liable to punishment with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year and shall be liable to fine under section 7 of the ordinance.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 of the Jammu and Kashmir Animal Disease (Control) Act 2006 (1947 AD), the Government hereby prohibits import of Poultry/Poultry Products and Pigs/Piggery Products in all forms into the state as a pre-cautionary measure due to outbreak of Bird Flu/Avian Influenza in Maharashtra/Gujrat States, till further orders.

In exercise of powers conferred by section 37 of the Jammu and Kashmir Animal Disease (Control) Act, Samvat 2006, the Government hereby directs that in Schedul;e of the said Act the following shall be added as entry: "Bird Flu/Avian Influenza".

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 of the Jammu and Kashmir Animal Disease (Control) Act 2006 (1947 AD), the Government hereby directs that the prohibition imposed on import of Poultry/Poultry Products and Pigs/Piggery Products vide Notification SRO 61 dated 20th February, 2006 is hereby lifted in respects of eggs only in the first instance.
