Dr Altaf Ahmad Baba, Chief Executive Officer, Kashmir Livestock Board and Joint Director, FS Project, took over as Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Kashmir, on 30.09.2008, the post vacated by Dr Bhupinder Singh Sudan on latter's attaining the age of superannuation.
Dr Sudan, a Veterinary graduate of Nagpur Veterinary College, had served as director since March 2008 and attained the age of superannuation after serving the department in different capacities for about 35 years.
At simple but impressive handing-over and taking-over ceremony Dr M S Sorma of J&K Veterinary Doctors' Association hailed the appointment of the local officer as DAH which they felt would go long way in the development of livestock sector in the Kashmir Division. Some senior officers speaking on the occasion hailed the appointment and committed whole-hearted support to Dr AA Baba in running the affairs of the department effectively. Dr Baba appreciated the efforts of the outgoing director in earning the confidence of his team of officers and resorting to consultations and collective decision making. He promised to leave no stone unturned in living up to the expectations of the people.
Dr RL Raina, Project Manager (CD), who attained the age of superannuation today after serving the department for 33 years, was also bid adieu on this occasion. A graduate & PG in Poultry Science, HAU, Hissar, Dr Raina had joined the department in 1976. The speakers wished the two retirees a happy post-retirement life.
