Kashmir, September 5 2007:
The
Hon'ble Minister for Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry Jenab Taj
Mohi-ud-Din today paid a visit to the main campus of the Directorate of
Animal Husbandry at Gaw Kaadal, Srinagar. Addressing a gathering of
vets who had assembled there on call of senior officers of the
Department to discuss the challenges before the profession, the Hon'ble
minister reiterated the Government's deep desire to see the Department
as a tool for upliftment of the small and marginal farmers of the state
as well as to meet the animal product demands of the towns and cities.
Chairing the gathering the Hon'ble Minister lent a patient hearing to
the issues raised by some senior officers of the department, including
those relating to reorganization of the department, extension of modern
facilities to hospitals and centers, revival of poultry wing and
strengthening the specialist and super-specialist infrastructure of the
department. Jenab Taj Mohi-ud-Din made it clear that his expectations
from the vets of the department are more because he believes that the
vets here are far superior in intellect and technical know how than
anywhere in India. He resolved to improve the medicinal and gynae
related facilities of the department by favouring post-graduation in
these fields. He also stressed on bringing transparency in all the
offices of the department with a farmer-centric policy.
The
other dignitaries at the meeting included Dr. SP Sharma, Director
Animal Husbandry-Kashmir, Dr AM Mufti, Dy. Director (Poultry)-Kashmir
and other BVO and equivalent class officers of the department.
